#NoCarbsBeforeMarbs (Berry Good Smoothie)

I’m going on holiday this summer (God willing and bank balance depending) so because my activity levels have plummeted recently, I need to do my absolute best to eat well, as well as drink gallons of water so that I don’t feel slumped, heavy, tired and dead inside while on the beach – yet the sprawled-out look might be a great sunbathing pose. Plus, although I have an incredibly fast acting metabolism that makes it impossible for me to gain any weight…when I eat crap my skin…WOIIIIIIIII…it cries and oh, it screams for mercy. Not only that, but my belly is also super sensitive, therefore it needs to be treated with love and respect so that it doesn’t attack me with nausea.

My #summergoal is to have that unrealistic magazine-airbrushed-dewy-but-silky skin. I want my skin to glow…not shine/fry in the oil that haunts my t-zone (I was just going to say forehead and then realised I would be lying to us all with that understatement) but glow all the way up (nothing can stop me…get it? Ahhh, I truly hope that that made you giggle as much as I just did).

I make smoothies most days a week, which helps me to achieve my goal. This skin and belly loving smoothie is particularly great because its jam-packed with vitamins (A, B, C and K) minerals, powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Please give it a try, you’ll be surprised with how tasty it is! I promise :).

Berry Good Smoothie

1 beetroot either raw or cooked
1 cup of kale
1 small apple
4 medjool dates (these are bomb.com)
1 orange
1 cup of blueberries
3 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp. fresh grated ginger
300ml water

  1. Peel and roughly chop beetroot (if raw), apple and orange. Combine with rest of ingredients before blending in your device of choice until smooth. Be patient, kale can be a stubborn blend.
